What to expect, from first call to final report
Testing sounds intimidating. It shouldn't be. Here's exactly how the process works at Pedia IQ.
- The first conversation
Call 470-353-3775 or submit a request online. Dr. Marshall will talk with you about your concerns, answer your questions, and help you decide whether an evaluation makes sense. You'll receive intake paperwork and a clear quote for the cost before anything is scheduled.
- The intake
Dr. Marshall meets with you during the first appointment to review your child's developmental, medical, and school history in depth. This is where she starts forming the questions the testing needs to answer. Bring report cards, previous evaluations, and IEP or 504 documents if you have them.
- Testing
Your child works one-on-one with Dr. Marshall and her trained psychometrists through a series of activities: puzzles, questions, memory games, academic tasks. Most kids find it more interesting than they expected. The length of testing depends on the nature of the assessment and can be split across sessions, when needed. Tell your child they're going to meet someone who helps parents and teachers know how students learn best, and that there are no shots and no grades.
- Analysis
Dr. Marshall analyzes and integrates everything: test data, rating scales, history, and school records. This is where 20+ years of experience turns numbers into answers.
- The telehealth feedback session
You meet with Dr. Marshall (without your child, typically) to go over the results in plain language. She'll explain what the testing found, what it means, and what to do next. Come with questions; this session is for you.
- The written report
You receive a comprehensive written report including test results, diagnoses where appropriate, and specific recommendations for school, home, and treatment. The report is written to serve as documentation for 504 plans, IEPs, college accommodations, and physician treatment planning. Written reports are provided on the day of the feedback session, typically 1-2 weeks after testing is complete.
- After the evaluation
Dr. Marshall can consult with your child's school, pediatrician, or therapist to make sure the recommendations turn into action.
Fees and payment
Pedia IQ is a private pay practice, which allows evaluations to be scheduled quickly and tailored to your child rather than to insurance requirements.
Payment details and a full quote are provided before scheduling. Fees for evaluations range from $1,300 to $3,600 depending on scope, and exact costs are provided during the initial phone consultation.
After the evaluation, you'll receive a superbill containing the diagnostic and billing codes insurance companies require, which you can submit to your plan for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Many families are reimbursed for a portion of the cost, depending on their out-of-network benefits.
